Nomaterra Now Available at Merz Apothecary in Chicago![/caption]
As of this month, Nomaterra is available at Merz Apothecary in Chicago at the following address:
4716 North Lincoln Avenue
Chicago, IL 60625
Founded in 1875, Merz Apothecary
has a LONG-standing history within its community. First, as a pharmacy where locals could get both holistic and modern remedies, and then later, after being purchased by pharmacist and current owner, Abdul Qaiyum, expanded into a quality source of all-encompassing holistic products for health, wellness, and beauty. What we love most about Merz is their continued dedication to curating the most quality, holistic products that can be found in the world that enhance people's health and lifestyles inside and out.
I first met Anthony Qaiyum, Abdul's son, in August 2013 during a trade show, and then Abdul in January of this year at the NY NOW trade show at the Javits, I was impressed by their knowledge on natural medicine and beauty, but what resonated most with me was that they are a truly family-run business, just like us. All members of their family are involved in the business in some way or another, and they perpetuate that familial vibe and warmth to their customers and the community they serve. We're really excited to be a part of the Merz family, and we encourage those of you who live in the Chicago area to visit one of their two stores
, as well as their extensive apothecary website, http://www.smallflower.com/
, where you can buy Nomaterra products as well.

Meg Biram in Shanghai[/caption]
We recently did an interview with the amazing lifestyle blogger, Meg Biram of MegBiram.com
. We asked her about her favorite travel experiences and on-the-go beauty rituals...here's what she had to say!
1. What's your most favorite location you've ever traveled to and why?
I like different places for different reasons, so I don't know that there's a favorite necessarily. For beaches, the best I've been to so far is the Bahamas
. I loved Colombia
, South America, and Ireland
2. What was the scariest location you've ever traveled to and why?
Definitely when I was in Colombia. I stood out like a sore thumb being blonde and blue/green eyed and unfortunately with some of the drugs and crime that happens there, I was a tiny bit scared of being kidnapped. Luckily it was totally fine.
3. Best hotel pool you've lounged at?
4. Best meal you've had and where?
Too many to choose!
5. Most important thing you've learned on your travels?
Planning is important, but also to leave time for wandering.
6. Favorite novel to read on a plane?
Magazines or whatever book I've got downloaded on my iPad. I read constantly.
7. Favorite/funny encounter (either with other fellow travelers or with a local)?
I saw the Bushman in SF. That was pretty funny.
8. Any advice on on-the-go/on-the-move beauty? (What are some tips you may have for taking care of your skin, body, nails, hair while traveling)
Depending on where I'm going and for how long, it's totally worth it to get a gel mani. Then you don't have to worry about your nails at all.
9. Any beauty/health rituals for a long flight?
Neck pillow. A good one.
10. What's your favorite Nomaterra travel product and why?

Nomaterra Fragrances Now Being Sold on MegBiram.com
One of our most favorite DC bloggers is now carrying our Nomaterra travel sprays, and will be carrying the Nomaterra roll-ons and candles by the end of this month. For those of you who have the pleasure of knowing Meg, or reading her blog, this girl has the kind of energy, spontaneous brilliance, and not to mention, style, one can only envy (she's also been named 2013 "Style Setter" by Washingtonian Magazine). Her extensive knowledge and tips range from entrepreneurial to health-related to what to wear this season. With a lifestyle blog and marketing and social media consulting business that's been growing since 2007, and a new store that has opened this month, this girl is on fire and we highly recommend checking out her website, www.megbiram.com.
We've been hard at work all summer on new city-inspired scents, traveling to these great American cities, and finding out what makes them unique. We've done our research too. Did you know that Gardenia Manii, is a type of gardenia that can only be found on the island of Oahu? Gardenia is a succulently rich, jasmine and vanilla-like scent, and it is found as the key ingredient in one of our newest fragrances, Oahu Gardenia. Plumeria, an exotic Hawaiian tropical flower used to create leis can also be found in the Oahu fragrance. In addition, we are excited to also debut Boston Tobacco Leaf, Savannah Magnolia, and Malibu Honeysuckle (our favorite to wear right now in this beautiful autumn weather). Each of these new scents come in 10ml perfume oil roll-ons. What do you think these great cities should smell like?
You can try out all our scents in the Nomaterra adventure set.
Perhaps they will remind you of your hometown, a place you've been to, or a place you dream of going to.
As everyone well knows, maintaining a beauty regimen while traveling has gotten more and more difficult in recent years, to the point where now it's near impossible to bring all of your favorite products unless you're checking a bag. And even then, there's a decent chance that those products won't hold up against the pressure changes associated with flying, leaving you with no product and a soggy suitcase. Fortunately, we have a few tips and product suggestions to combat those issues! Read on for our tips.
First and foremost, if you can't get over the idea of leaving behind all of your favorite liquid and cream products, invest in a variety of travel sized bottles. This set is available from Amazon for about $12, and has a verity of sizes and bottle types. Well worth it, we think!
Another one of the best ways to keep yourself pretty on-the-go is to choose multiple-use products, like Nars The Multiple. This stick is hydrating, which is great for skin when traveling, and can be used as a blush, highlighter, eyeshadow, and lip color! It comes in a variety of shades, so there's sure to be something that works for you and your destination.
If you're anything like us, the hotel-provided shampoos typically don't cut it for you. Enter Lush solid shampoos. They have a variety of formulas for differing hair needs, all with delicious scents! And they now have two solid conditioners available. Added bonus? Lush products are all natural.
Finally, depending on how long you'll be at your destination it may be beneficial to bring your favorite essentials, particularly if they have a higher price tag, and purchase other basics upon arrival. This will cut down on excess bulk and weight in your luggage. Of course, your favorite Nomaterra fragrance can come on board, and won't cause any issues in the security line!

Adding a cotton ball on top of powdered make-up products is a great, cheap, and easy way to prevent your makeup from shattering during travel!

“Where should one use perfume?" a young woman asked. "Wherever one wants to be kissed.”
We love this quote from Coco Chanel. Where do you wear perfume?
