Nomaterra Now Available at Merz Apothecary in Chicago![/caption]
As of this month, Nomaterra is available at Merz Apothecary in Chicago at the following address:
4716 North Lincoln Avenue
Chicago, IL 60625
Founded in 1875, Merz Apothecary
has a LONG-standing history within its community. First, as a pharmacy where locals could get both holistic and modern remedies, and then later, after being purchased by pharmacist and current owner, Abdul Qaiyum, expanded into a quality source of all-encompassing holistic products for health, wellness, and beauty. What we love most about Merz is their continued dedication to curating the most quality, holistic products that can be found in the world that enhance people's health and lifestyles inside and out.
I first met Anthony Qaiyum, Abdul's son, in August 2013 during a trade show, and then Abdul in January of this year at the NY NOW trade show at the Javits, I was impressed by their knowledge on natural medicine and beauty, but what resonated most with me was that they are a truly family-run business, just like us. All members of their family are involved in the business in some way or another, and they perpetuate that familial vibe and warmth to their customers and the community they serve. We're really excited to be a part of the Merz family, and we encourage those of you who live in the Chicago area to visit one of their two stores
, as well as their extensive apothecary website, http://www.smallflower.com/
, where you can buy Nomaterra products as well.

Meg Biram in Shanghai[/caption]
We recently did an interview with the amazing lifestyle blogger, Meg Biram of MegBiram.com
. We asked her about her favorite travel experiences and on-the-go beauty rituals...here's what she had to say!
1. What's your most favorite location you've ever traveled to and why?
I like different places for different reasons, so I don't know that there's a favorite necessarily. For beaches, the best I've been to so far is the Bahamas
. I loved Colombia
, South America, and Ireland
2. What was the scariest location you've ever traveled to and why?
Definitely when I was in Colombia. I stood out like a sore thumb being blonde and blue/green eyed and unfortunately with some of the drugs and crime that happens there, I was a tiny bit scared of being kidnapped. Luckily it was totally fine.
3. Best hotel pool you've lounged at?
4. Best meal you've had and where?
Too many to choose!
5. Most important thing you've learned on your travels?
Planning is important, but also to leave time for wandering.
6. Favorite novel to read on a plane?
Magazines or whatever book I've got downloaded on my iPad. I read constantly.
7. Favorite/funny encounter (either with other fellow travelers or with a local)?
I saw the Bushman in SF. That was pretty funny.
8. Any advice on on-the-go/on-the-move beauty? (What are some tips you may have for taking care of your skin, body, nails, hair while traveling)
Depending on where I'm going and for how long, it's totally worth it to get a gel mani. Then you don't have to worry about your nails at all.
9. Any beauty/health rituals for a long flight?
Neck pillow. A good one.
10. What's your favorite Nomaterra travel product and why?

A number of different species of honeysuckle grow indigenously throughout Southern California. While the flower gives off a sweet, tantalizing aroma and the nectar can be consumed, its berries are poisonous to humans, yet not to other animals. Because of its sweet nature, it is used to lure songbirds and butterflies into a garden to add to its beauty.
The honeysuckle is used holistically to treat fevers, inflammation, and skin infections, as well as for its calming properties.
Fun Fact: Honeysuckle can be found in cat toys as the smell attracts them. Because of its sweet nature, honeysuckle is also used to lure songbirds and butterflies into a garden.

In light of this chilly Valentine's Day weekend, we learned something recently that might warm your hearts. A few weekends ago, we were invited to a friend's birthday party in NYC. We met a couple there, Nurah and Courtney, who have been dating for a little over a year now. Turns out that they had met each other at Nomaterra's Washington, D.C. Launch Party back in January of 2013!! They met there, started dating, and fell in love! It was so nice to reconnect with them, and happy to know that Nomaterra brought them together!! (Their favorite fragrance...DC Cherry Blossom of course!)

Nomaterra has been working closely with Michelle Kiela, who has been wholeheartedly involved in the redesign of our packaging, and is behind the gorgeously-detailed illustrations of some of America's greatest cities for Nomaterra's newest scents. Our task at hand was to marry the authenticity of the city-scents inside the box, with artwork representing the locations themselves, to create a cohesive movement from packaging to scent. Above, you see photos and our collaborative imagination and memories of these places turned into authentic sketches that engulf you and make you feel like you are there. (Right now we're staring at the Oahu landscape, wishing we could escape this Brooklyn rain!) Michelle is first and foremost an artist, with a Masters in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts, but also an incredibly talented graphic designer (She received her Bachelor's in Graphic Design from St. John's University). I would highly suggest checking out her work here: http://metalwor56.wix.com/ocdlayouts#!fine-arts/c1yaj and if you're looking to have artwork or graphic design done for a current or future project of yours, reach out to Michelle at firstname.lastname@example.org
